Dr Bert Popping is a food safety scientist with more than 25 years of experience in food allergen analysis, method validation, and regulatory science. He is the Chief Executive Officer of FOCOS, a strategic food safety consultancy, and co-founder of FOOD-ORBIT, which provides regulatory and compliance advice to industry and authorities. His work focuses on the interface between allergen risk assessment, analytical performance, and regulatory decision-making.
He has served and is serving on multiple international expert groups addressing food allergens, including the FAO/WHO expert consultations on food allergen risk assessment.
He has authored more than 75 peer-reviewed publications on food allergens, food analysis, and validation, and co-edited the reference book Present Knowledge in Food Safety, which includes extensive coverage of allergen risk and analytics, which was produced and was produced under the auspices of ILSI.
